So we recently visited the house where Fela Anikulapo Kuti was born and raised in Abeokuta, Nigeria. It was actually closed for mainainance, but with a little persuation they where incredibly kind enough to show us round. The rooms upstairs still enough furniture, pictures on the walls, and personal items to make it feel real. The car Fela's mother, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti owned is still in the garage. She was the first woman to drive in Africa! (The above image is the view from the upstair at the front of the house). It was such a privilege to visit the house and next time I hope we visit the house he had in Lagos!
